I'll stick with my Poland Spring water, thanks.

On the local news this evening there was a feature about a campaign currently being run in Portland called "Take Back the Tap".

Apparently this group--complete with "Take Back the Tap" stickers and their little table set up in downtown Portland--are trying to get people to stop drinking bottled water and start drinking tapwater exclusively.

The spokeswoman they interviewed gave the argument (among other things) that "up to 40% of bottled waters are just tapwater anyway" and "you spend from 100 to 1000 times more than the water you get at home" (these are not direct quotes, mind you, just paraphrasing).

They're even going around trying to get local businesses to sign a "No Bottled Water" pledge and to serve only tapwater to their patrons (and for whatever reason, they kept showing images of Poland Spring water bottles--which actually do contain spring water, not bottled tap water). There was even a clip of a local businesswoman saying that she has jumped on the bandwagon and will no longer be serving bottled water in her cafe.

Does anyone else think there's something wrong with this???

What I'd like to know is: what's in the tapwater that they want everyone to be consuming so badly?

Think about it.

In preparation for the club scene in our next short film, Clean Water Act, we acquired a set of lights that change their patterns and colors with the music being played. Needless to say, we had to test them out in the studio... Fun with disco lights...
null
